Silver Care
Thoughtful Care for Lasting Beauty
Silver jewellery naturally reacts with air, moisture and everyday substances over time. This may cause tarnishing or a gradual change in appearance. It is a natural characteristic of silver and does not indicate a loss of purity.
With appropriate care and storage, your Mata Payals jewellery can retain its beauty for years to come.
Everyday Care
* Wear your jewellery only after applying perfume, cosmetics, hairspray, lotion or other personal-care products.
* Remove it before bathing, swimming, exercising, sleeping or performing household work.
* Avoid contact with water, sweat, chlorine, detergents, sanitiser and other chemicals.
* Handle delicate chains, clasps, stones and handcrafted components gently.
* Wipe the jewellery with a clean, soft and dry cloth after every use.
Cleaning Your Jewellery
Plain Silver Jewellery
Gently wipe plain silver jewellery with a soft silver-polishing cloth. If deeper cleaning is required, use a small amount of mild soap with lukewarm water and dry the jewellery thoroughly with a soft cloth immediately afterward.
Do not use excessive pressure, hard brushes or abrasive materials.
Oxidised Jewellery
The darker details on oxidised jewellery are an intentional part of its finish. Avoid using silver polish, cleaning liquids or vigorous rubbing, as these may remove or lighten the oxidised effect.
Clean gently using only a soft, dry cloth.
Gold-Plated, Rose Gold-Plated and Rhodium-Plated Jewellery
Plated finishes may gradually wear with regular use, friction, moisture and exposure to chemicals. Clean plated jewellery gently with a soft, dry cloth.
Do not use silver-polishing cloths, chemical cleaners or abrasive materials on plated surfaces.
Stone, Pearl, Enamel and Beaded Jewellery
Avoid soaking jewellery containing stones, pearls, enamel, beads or adhesive-set components. Water and cleaning solutions may affect the settings, colour or finish.
Use a soft, dry cloth and seek professional assistance whenever deeper cleaning is required.
Proper Storage
* Store each piece separately to prevent scratching, tangling and friction.
* Keep jewellery in its original Mata Payals box, a soft pouch or a sealed container.
* Store necklaces and delicate chains flat to prevent bending and tangling.
* Keep jewellery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
* Avoid storing silver jewellery in damp, velvet or leather-lined boxes for extended periods.
* Ensure every piece is completely dry before storing it.
Products to Avoid
Do not clean your jewellery with:
* Toothpaste
* Baking soda
* Detergents
* Bleach
* Chemical dips
* Harsh jewellery-cleaning liquids
* Rough brushes or abrasive cloths
These products may scratch the silver, loosen stones or damage oxidised and plated finishes.
Caring for Jewellery Worn Regularly
Anklets, toe rings, bangles and rings are exposed to greater friction and everyday contact. Inspect frequently worn jewellery periodically for loose stones, weakened links, bent components or damaged clasps.
Addressing minor concerns early can help prevent further damage.

A Gentle Reminder
Tarnishing, gradual changes in polish and the natural wearing of plated or oxidised finishes may occur with time and use. These are normal characteristics of silver jewellery and can be managed through careful handling, proper storage and professional maintenance.
